Aside from simply being a pretty good 2 damage artillery as a weapon its ability to place a boulder if it doesnt land on an enemy can be used for a lot of things such as blocking enemies you cant kill or displace. Note that all weapons have friendly fire on unless an exception is mentioned so if you dont plan properly you can damage your own mechs.
